Miguel V Pardo

Interview

Q:  Tell me about yourself.
A:  I was born in Columbia. I came to the United States and received my citizenship some time ago, carrying my dream to become an artist.

Q:  Can you be more specific?
A:  I grew up in a time of political violence, and seeing a sack full of severed human heads was the trigger for leaving my country. Columbia has a long history of political violence...politicians and drug lords have been in business together since the 1940"s. The greed of a few has destroyed the country; it is a mess.

Q:  Art...What is Art?
A:   I don't know what it is, I don't think anyone does...only time has the answer. I think Art is 90% of what we call Art, 5% business and 5% decoration. Art is a passion with a touch of madness, because you have to be out of your mind to be an artist...but it is wonderful.

Q:  What makes a work of Art?
A:  Art is a combination of 3 elements:
Intellect - Brains
Feeling - Heart
Technique - Hands
to these 3 elements, you add originality ...and you have Art.

Q:  How do you appreciate Art?
A:   If you want to appreciate Art, it is necessary to approach it with a free mind, Art is an open door to another dimension and you need to walk through with an open mind. You let yourself be taken by the feelings that the Art has given you...let yourself be mesmerized by what you feel and don't be afraid to ask questions ...and you will have your answers.

Q:  What painters do you admire?
A:  There are many. All artists offer something different...I can not put my finger on one artist alone. From the oldest Art Work to today, I find the world of Art full of magic and fantastic imagination. Each artist is good in his own right.
